Astonishingly bad weather with torrential rain, lakes on the road and strong gusting winds. Immensely unpleasant for riders and officials alike.
Chris McNamara (Pedal Heaven) returns to form as he is fastest in an amazing time of 54:15. Conall Yates (In-Gear Quickvit Trainsharp RT) and Pete Morris (Team ASL360) are tied for first place and the 2015 Sussex title and the Boniface Cup.
In something of a reprise of yesterday’s Championship 10…..
In-Gear Quickvit Trainsharp RT take the SCA team title and the Lee Memorial Shield.
Sam Dix completed the winning team for In-Gear Quickvit Trainsharp with 1.01.38

ESCA 10 & 25 Weekend

Busy weekend for me. Started on Saturday with the ESCA 10 on the Boship course. What appeared to be good weather conditions, turned out to be deceptive. The team was well represented with Pete Tadros coming 2nd with 20:37, just behind winner Chris MacNamara (Pedal Heaven) 20:32. Next in was Jack Donaldson with 21:27 for 5th place.

Jas Le Goff recorded 22:53, which was enough to secure In Gear the Team prize. Sam Dix, returning from holiday posted 23:45.

National 10
The National 10 took place this year on the M62…well sort of,it was the dual carriageway continuation of the motorway.In-Gear Quickvit Trainsharp had 4 riders in the mens event.
As for Hutchinson after dominating the Championship for 10 years he still ended up on the podium. “I’m not sure if I have won a Bronze medal before, maybe I did in the `50` one year,” he said. “Still I did win the 40-44 year-old Veteran’s Age Award,” he joked. Journalistic work is taking up more of his time apart from his writing more TV and radio work is coming his way.

Bec CC 25

Pete Tadros won this with 52.35 beating second place Mark Emsley by nearly 2 minutes

P901
Carl Richardson rode the P901/25 today and I got a time of 56 mins 26 secs and came 5th overall

ESCA 50 Sunday 13th was won by 1st Phil Allen of LWCC in 01:51:03, with IGQVT rider Dave Pollard in 6th with 01:56:01, despite riding in the little ring for longer than he would have liked.

Further down was Jas Le Goff with 02:05:27. Excuse: Put too much air in the back tyre, had couple of scary moments on roundabouts in the wet, lots my bottle. Not the drinking one.

Alton 10

Pete Tadros won the Alton 10 on 20.00 – 1 second off a 19 and 1 second off catching my 3 minute man. So for the book of excuses – 3 things that may have cost me 1 second:

1. I forgot gaffer tape to tape up my disk wheel valve entry point.

2. I forgot my ususal pre race can of coke so rode on water alone

3. I thought the finish was further on so mistimed my final effort.

There were more DNS than I could count as conditions were pretty bad with heavy rain throughout so I was actually pretty pleased with my time (next fastest 20.49). And that is a course PB for me

Michael Hutchinson won the Yorkshire CF ’10’at the weekend with a time of 18.33

De Laune 25 August 3rd
it’s the clubs 125th anniversary in 2014 and the prizes will total at least £700 across all categories and will include, as well as the usual actual, standard, lady, team and standard team prizes, 10x£12.50 (a total of £125) awards for riders closest to certain pre-determined times plus a real cracker of a prize…..one finisher will win £125 regardless of what time they have done and regardless of whether or not they have won other awards!! You can see the 125 theme amongst that lot I guess!!! I also think (though not 100% certain on this one) that every starter will get a bike drinking bottle.

Wonder if we could muster a few riders together and make a “raid” into Kent. Could well be worth their while entering!!!
De Laune 25 on 3rd August has been increased from the original £75 and is now a guaranteed £125. To go along with this, there is now also a “more attractive” overall total prize fund……….most definitely worthwhile some of the InGear squad entering now !!!!

BEC CC 10
Simon Church represented the team last weekend on the G10/57, just managed to nip a time in (22.28) before they abandoned due to road works commencing.

Brighton Mitre 10’s
Sunday 25th May saw the Brighton Mitre multi 10 events run by Robin Johnson. Unlike the float conditions the previous weekend on the Crawley course this Sunday there was a strong blustery head wind from the south meaning the normally faster out leg was a struggle for a number of riders especially those non-petite riders e.g. yours truly. For those who have not ridden the event before there are a number of 10 mile TTs back to back – Fixed Gear (medium 72″), Hub Gear (Tin Can), Road Bikes (no Tri-bars), Ladies, flat (Bling) all based on the Steyning course (G10/97)  and the last event running the same course until the last mile or so when the finish is at the top of Steyning Bostal. I rode the Flat and hilly 10 last year but not this year! The only In-Gear rider racing more than one event was Pete “the Machine” Tadros…

Charlottville 50

Report from Dave Pollard with the book of excuses volume 10&11 !
Today’s race went badly from a mechanical point of view, but in a strange way i quite enjoyed it and think my form is good.

Rode well for the first 5 miles (bit to hard into the wind) then hit a bump and the chain came off the big ring onto the small ring. i then rode trying to get the chain back on the big ring (wasting time) so i stopped put chain on the big ring but as soon as i pedaled it went back on the small ring. By this time my minute man had caught and past me.I rode the next 40 miles in the small ring (which was ok into the headwind but not in the tailwind, had cadence of 112 and free wheeling. caught minute man and put more time into him.Near the end the rear brake cable tidy caught in the chain ring and pulled the disc over. Had to stop and adjust the disc, minute man went past. rode slowly back to HQ and sulked.
In-Gear would like to add this was due to operator error …

Sean Quinney 16th

Mike James 19th

Connall equal 42nd

As you can guess the last group didn’t catch us. Both Sean & I were in the gallop at the end but not close enough to the sharp end to challenge for the top placings. But good experience. We worked hard from start to finish in a pretty disparate group, getting caught half a lap from the finish (we need race radios for these handicaps).

 LVRC Ugley 18th May

Mike James 8th (B cat) – not sure overall but must have been top 15 ish.

Trying to conserve some energy I missed the Mark Daly group break in the first few laps which maintained a minute on the bunch to the finish. Mind you pretty pleased at this stage to be active in all the moves in the final 2 laps and in the mix at the finish – just badly positioned (I will re-learn this at some stage!).

Starting to regain some semblance of climbing ability so might even enter Brenchley

Gareth reports on his debut TT Truly horrendous conditions, do I ride or stay in bed? Decided to get my lazy ar*e out of bed. Everyone in Chez Elks asleep (as any sensible person would be at 5.30), so quick brekkie and head out of the house early so as not to wake everyone up. Get to start v early, all nice an relaxed, lots of time to kill so drive the course. Read a bit then decide to start warm up. However, discovered I’d left my front wheel at home. Put (soaking) bike turbo etc back into car, drive home, collect wheel (waking everyone up in my blind panic mode). Rush back to start and condense warm up into super short effort.  Get to start with 20 seconds to spare – and realise id left my glasses in the  car. Conditions were horrible – strong wind and heavy rain. The only positive was that it probably meant less traffic than there would’ve been had the conditions been better.
